Whether it's winter sports or the serenity of the cool summers,
Leadville has something for everyone. In the summer, people enjoy
hikes in some of Colorado's Fourteeners, or fishing in some of the
clearest freshwater in North America, or camping with the family, or
mountain biking with the pros. Also, enjoy the weekend long
celebration of our city called "Boom Days," and for the athlete, we
are proud to host the annual Trail 100 races which is done on bike
and then on foot.

In the winter, ski at the renowned Summit
County ski resorts, or snowmobile some of the best terrain
in the nation. There are ice fishing competitions at Twin
Lakes and Leadville's ski joring competition, which is a hoot

Ski at the famous Summit County ski resorts Breckenridge,
Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin and also Vail
and Beaver Creek. Enjoy skiing at these mountain resorts
without having to pay an arm and a leg for your hotel. If
quiet is what you want, come ski at ski cooper right in Lake
County; it has terrain to please everyone, but no fancy
restaurants, or packed runs. |

"Leadville Boom Days" is a Colorado Mountain Festival and
historical celebration of the Old West, with gunslingers,
burro races, contests of mining skill, and a street fair
with over 100 food and craft booths. This annual event was
selected by Colorado for documentation and preservation by
the U.S. Library of Congress as a Local Legacy of national
interest. Festival events span three days of fun, food, and
recreational activities for the whole family. There are
historic contests of individual mining skill, Annual Gun
Show, a Motorcycle Rodeo, the popular Boom Days Parade, and
our world-famous 21 mile International Pack Burro Race.
There are always a ton of things to see and do, including
children's events and a huge variety of supporting events,
such as a street fair, a parade, street-side entertainment,
costume contests, the "Mosey" contest, the Outhouse Race,
and much more!
